Product Life cycle is dependent upon the quality of the product for which it has been designed. To validate the product quality one requires to carry out destructive testing which is expensive or nondestructive method which is more economical but has a cost. Traditional methods based upon film radiography, ultrasonic, eddy currents, dye penetrant testing have been used in the industry since four decades. With the evolving technology the above methods have become refined where NDT costs can be considerably reduced. CIT digital radiography is one of these technology that has had a impact on the product inspection methods. This digital radiography provides a new innovative method which replaces X-ray films, darkroom processing and conventional archives. Instead it has uses computer systems with electronic archiving. X-ray capture using direct or reusable digital imaging plate technologies used. NDT department can now modernize their radiographic facility with a new approach which is cost effective. Reduce NDT Radiography cost by adopting CIT’ Digital Radiography Technology

The introduction of Digital Radiography for inspection of pipelines welds, castings and pressure vessels can have significant benefits both economically, reduction in project time scales and environmental friendly green compliance.

The key benefits are reduction of the radiation energy by over 50%, reduction of exposure time by 60 to 70%, elimination of films costs, chemicals and dark room processing costs. 

The CIT’s Digital Radiography system uses flexible reusable digital imaging plate technology. This enables the flexible plates to be used like ordinary films in jackets and can be placed inside and outside of the product under inspections. These plates are exposed in a similar manner to standard radiographic setup but with reduced radiation energy and exposure time. Further the technology has been proven to work with Iridium, Se75, X-rays, Yt169, Cobalt60. The X-ray images generated are viewed on radiograph image display monitor.
